Nature

The nature cabin sits at the bottom of the hill as visitors venture into camp, after parking their car. In mid-summer, the cabin is filled with aquariums and evidence of the plant and animal life that calls Nominingue home.

Nature instruction is two-faceted. Campers learn to identify the trees, plants and animals that live at Nominingue, in particular edible plants. Campers also learn about the ecology, how the plants and animals at camp interact with each other. They also learn about food webs and life-cycles of some of those animals.

The nature cabin is also the starting point for a number of nature programs – a walk to the spruce bog, a night-time walk through the tree far or an opportunity to look up at the constellations in the night sky.
