Living Accommodations
Immerse yourself in the exceptional life at Camp Nominingue, where we’ve crafted a blend of fun, adventure, and comfort that has touched the hearts of campers for nearly a century.
Our canvas tents, lined amid a grove of white birch trees, provide the perfect home-away-from-home for our campers. Nestled on raised wooded platforms, each tent comes equipped with roll-up sidewalls and a rain fly, offering both comfort and a delightful camping experience.
Inside, campers find a metal cot with a mattress, ready for their sleeping bag, pillow, and blanket, ensuring coziness on cool nights. Storage crates and travel bags hold personal belongings, while a trunk proves invaluable for clothing.
We’ve segmented our tentline to provide age-appropriate living spaces. Lower Camp, for 7-10 year-olds, forms a horseshoe around the Junior Swim Area. Middle Camp, housing 11-12 year-olds, stretches from the Main Lodge past the shower building. Upper Camp, for 13-15 year-olds, orbits the Intermediate Lodge. Each large tent hosts five campers and a counselor, with younger ones enjoying the additional presence of a junior counselor. Our older campers, aged 14 and 15, enjoy a bit more independence in smaller 3-man tents, with a counselor stationed nearby.
Dining Experience
Our historic dining hall, built in 1930, is filled with nearly a century’s worth of Camp Nominingue traditions. Canoes hanging from the rafters, leader award plaques, photos of our founder, F.M. Van Wagner, and early camp mementos offer a warm, nostalgic atmosphere.
Campers dine with their tent mates and counselors at large tables, fostering camaraderie. A camper, the waiter, brings the food tray from the kitchen, while the counselor ensures balanced meal distribution.
We take pride in our meals, aiming to match the quality and quantity of home cooking. Fresh fruit is served at every meal, and a mid-morning fruit snack keeps energy high. Our lunch and dinner salad bars offer an array of vegetables, proteins, salads, and dressings.
Menus are adjusted each off-season based on feedback and the guidance of a licensed dietician. We maintain a nut and peanut-free environment and offer a vegetarian menu. Our kitchen staff adeptly handles a wide array of food allergies and intolerances.
Meal times are an experience in themselves. While breakfast is peaceful, lunch and supper end with spirited cheers from each camp section, energizing the boys for their next activity.
